Patched apps crashing

I've run the tool and it executes without any errors. My patched apps always crash, however. I'm running Google TV and I ultimately want to use the --certifcate option. Even without it, even basic apps seem to be unhappy. Is there a good reference app that I can try to verify my process? Thanks.
