I think it might be worth mentioning that wrapping functions makes changes to the selected text like in https://github.com/publiclab/PublicLab.Editor/issues/457#issuecomment-627813960 and https://github.com/publiclab/PublicLab.Editor/issues/487#issuecomment-634500076 and these changes are not always desirable.

I think the issue is here is that the part inside the code module is processed. The code does not disappear when we write code like the one you mentioned....
