animation in the main menu is highly irritating

Quick, distracting and aggressive animation in the background of the main menu is highly unpleasant. What worse there is no obvious way to stop it.

I'm sorry you feel that way, we mostly think it's a fun little thing. I don't think there is an option to remove it, but yes we might want to provide a more neutral one.
