On my system cachix can't modify my configuration.nix or nix.conf. Would be nice to have documentation on what to configure manually.

Generalize branch-and-revision to ref-and-revision

There's nothing special about branches from fetch-git's perspective, and any convenience function exposing that branches live under `refs/heads/*` can easily go into pure nix.

Since debug lines are passed through to the output, there should be a way to call fetch-git without them being printed, relying on the caller to print them or not...

Trying a `nix run .#bech32` results in a cabal solving failure (works on `v1.1.4`)
