Login with browser not doing anything

The problem

I cant login properly, i get no errors or popups seemingly

Operating system

Linux Mint 22

Steps to reproduce the behavior

1. Go to Sign in with github.com
2. continue with browser
3. allow Oauth or continue with account
4. when redirecting back to github desktop, the process seems to finish but it doesnt log me in

Additional context

downloaded the amd64 release because it was .deb and i didn't know if the architecture would be correct, it let me install it but i don't have amd, maybe thats the issue and i should get another release. But AppImage didnt open.
