Super Lag

When I activate the overlay my game goes straight down the toilet, literally 0.2 frames a second (i counted multiple times) I cant seem to resolve this, I tried redownloading all of the mods (the ones for forge specifically) and nothing changed. any idea how I can resolve this lag?
