GUI - allow shapefiles to define plotting extent

A useful addition to the GUI would be to allow shapefiles to determine the 
shape of the spatial plots.  This will be particularly useful for text groups.

Issues that will need to be dealt with include remapping the shapes to the 
groups, multipart polygons, and polygon centroids for neighbour highlighting.
