windows support with numerals

I included the changes from apla's fork, but didn't remove numeral. Passes tests.

Thanks for the pull request, I will take a look at this soon I just need to setup a Windows machine. Which Windows OS did you test this against?

Windows 10. I also have access to Windows 7.
