Exact formula for LCL heights
So yesterday I was idly browsing through Wikipedia when I noticed that, on its article on the lifting condensation level (LCL), it mentions that last year a scientist named David Romps managed to derive an exact formula for calculating the LCL height to within an accuracy of about five (5) meters or so. Here's a link to the paper in question. His website on the paper also has links to code at the bottom written in several languages, including Python.
I figured that you might at least want to take a look at this and try to see whether you'd want to use it in SHARPpy. Perhaps you could contact him and see if he'll allow its use, just to be sure.
Thanks for the suggestion! I found that paper as well, but I haven't taken a look at his Python implementation yet. The developers would have to discuss whether we'd use it in SHARPy, as the idea is to remain as close to SPC's SHARP program as possible.
