i think the above-right, above-left and other "corner" options without the 45 degree angle would be a great addition (like in tennessine's metro designer). And maybe separate the position and rotation into two different options.

So essentially they'd be positioned above-right, but using no rotation as if the orientation was "right". (and Below-right, right; below-left, left; above-left, left) These do look quite nice in my tests.
