Sort by date aired, suggestions regarding metadata
I’m not sure if it makes sense to create a new thread, but I wonder if it could be possible to have a tag on commercials and content that allows the scheduler to choose period appropriate commercials.
For instance, if the scheduler chooses a TV show that aired from 1990-1995, it would try to choose an ad from that time period. Both the file for the television show and the commercial content would need a tag to indicate dates aired for such a feature to work.
To me it seems like to make the program more configurable in the future, it makes sense to allow it to pull from video metadata, and information like network, years aired, content type (kids, adult, commercial, series, movie, etc) could be stored there.
To me this seems a little cleaner than the current system. For instance, now if you want the same content on multiple stations, you would need a symbolic link in each station content folder. By using metadata or a tagging system, you could create stations which do not require any particular file system, only tags.
I have some updates in progress that should help with this - namely to let each tag specific specific commercial and bump dirs where they want or pull from the main pool when they don't. This should address your main question.
Looking at this one again - it doesn't actually look like it belongs to the ticket I made it a sub-ticket of. Removing that linkage.
