Enhancement: Allow short clips on bumps break
In our kids channel, usually after a show, they used to broadcast a short clay animation inbetween the bumps.
This is usefull here, as the breaks at the end of a show are usually longer because FS42 is working in 30 minutes increments, so when playing a video clip inbetween the bumps make it more similar to the actual broadcast.
I thoght about a way to implement this -
Lets say we have an hour, devided into two halfs. Each will evanually play a 23 minutes show, so we will have 7 more minutes to play a single short cartoon. My idea is something like this:
"19": {"tags": ["gameshow", "sitcom"] "shorts": ["clay_stopmotion", "didyaknow_shorts"]},
And if we want to enable those short only for the first half an hour, it could be something like this: "19": {"tags": ["gameshow", "sitcom"] "shorts": ["clay_stopmotion", ""]},
and same as for the second half: "19": {"tags": ["gameshow", "sitcom"] "shorts": ["", "clay_stopmotion"]},
or maybe we can specify an unlimited shorts folders in it will choose randomly and put it inbetween the bumps.
Do you have commercials enabled for this station? My use case fora particular station is similar to yours for, but I don't want commercials for this station, so I just put the shorts in the commercials folder, enabled commercials, and called it a day
@4thguy - that should actually work! Enable bumps, disable commercials and put the shorts in the commercial folder. Genuis!
@manodory - would that work for your use case? If I recall, those channels don't have commercials (the reason we added the commercial_free parameter).
If I just put shorts in the bumps folder, it will choose two shorts of the same show, or maybe most of the break will be consisted of shorts, and I wish it to be more customizable. Maybe 1 or two shorts for a break, and the rest is bumps.
@manodory - I think they are suggesting putting shorts in the commercial folder. If you set the break_duration to the correct length, you will get a pattern where you see Bump->Short->Bump I think. This should work unless you are also using commercials.
Thqt is possible, but how do I avoid playing more than one short per break, or playimg two shorts but different short shows, and bumps between them?
I am not sure how long your shorts are - but I was thinking that you could use break_duration to prevent multiple shorts from being played. This would work especially well if they are similar lengths, but should work fine either way. Its worth testing out - I would prefer to use less mechanisms that are flexible than special purpose approaches.
@shane-mason Thanks :)
In this case it was an easy link to make because the shorts were aired instead of ADs.
I love this software btw, given a big enough archive a lot can be done with it
