Sequential clip shows, or per-episode clip shows

Originally posted by msleeper May 14, 2025 Let's say I have a show that is 22 minutes long with 3 commercial breaks, totaling 29 minutes of video. I would like to be able to edit the commercials out of the video, placing them in my pool of commercials, and keep each show segment separate so that they will play in their entirety before cutting to commercial. As I understand, this is exactly what the clip_shows feature does.

However as I understand, clip_shows are total per-show, but not per-episode of a given show. If I have 50 episodes of Jeopardy and I cut them into clips 150 clips in the "clip_shows/jeopardy/" directory, the clips will play in their entirety but I'll never be able to watch a "full episode" from a group of clips, because the 4 clips comprising episode 2536 won't necessarily play in sequence in a given timeslot. Maybe some episodes have 2 commercials, maybe others have 4.

Does the clip_shows feature allow a per-episode directory, and will it logically play them in order? If I put them in the location "clip_shows/jeopardy/2536/1.mp4" and "2.mp4" and so on, does that work as intended?

Is the clip_shows feature intended to be more random or less sequential than I'm trying to make it here? Am I trying to make the simulation too realistic?
