Features suggestion/question
This tool looks great, but I have a few questions:
Does it support 3.1, 5.1, 7.1 audio? I think some videos can have it and I'd like to keep it on them
Is it capable of dupe-checking? meaning if the video file has a slightly different name (like some characters replaced with "_" cause windows and NTFS are idiots)
Can I select to download all videos in 1080/1440/4k, and if yes will it automatically select lower resolution for videos that aren't available in in 1080/1440/4k? (probably a dumb question)
Is there a way to download the channel-structure? Meaning each playlist will have its subfolder, if there are duplicates it can simply make a shortcut in one of the two folders.
What about description/comments/thumbnail? I'm planning to make some tool for linux that will allow me to make an offline copy of the whole channel (with a way to update if), meaning you'll have the ability to browse in it as if you were still online... but I don't have much programming experience (I kinda suck) Also for obvious reasons I'd somehow build a tor/ssh/bridge/whatever connections into it to avoid some sort of IP ban.
I never checked if it supports 7.1, 5.1 or 3.1 audio, I don't really know what these are. What I'm doing is taking the audio from YouTube as is (in case of videos). If you choose to convert I don't know if it loses the 7.1 or 5.1 or 3.1
Not really sure what you meant by dupe checking, if you meant replacing forbidden characters with _ then yes, it does that.
You can select to download all videos in the preferred resolution, and if its not available the closest highest resolution will be picked
I don't know what channel structure is, but you can download entire channels.
Description/comments are not downloaded. Thumbnails are saved as the cover image for mp3 files, but its not saved as a separate file
by 7.1, 5.1, 3.1, I mean quad/surround audio
by dupe checking I mean if you could implement some dupe check, meaning even withh different file name it would be able to say that 2 video files are the same or that they are very similar (like slightly edited, or hhave 2 seconds less or something like that)
by channel structure, as I said, I'd like to have something like an offline copy of the whole channel, including videos, playlists, thumbnails on videos, descriptions, comments... everything. If you don't want to do that that's completely fine, I'll have to figure it out myself then.
About surround sound, it should remain if the original video also had it
About dupe checking, currently videos with the same title are considered 'dupes' but they are downloaded anyway, and a number is added to the file name to avoid overwriting it (pretty similar to how windows handle it)
About channel structure - nope, you are not able to do that with my program, the most you can do is download all the videos
tf does this mean? https://imgur.com/a/QCxu7zu
Its just a spammer github automatically deleted his comments he responded to almost every issue on this repository
