Invalid URL, nothing i do can get around it.

Open weirdwolf opened this issue 5 years ago • 6 comments

The downloader stalls every time it encounters a comment i'd upvoted at one point, it stalls and will after a little bit of time halt the download process and go no further, I've attempted to get around it by going back and un-upvoting the comment, i've attempted adding filters to the specific subreddit, and the author of the comment, nothing works and RMD still tries to find and download the comment, stalling download progress.

I'm using RMD v. 3.0.1 on Windows, with python 3.7.4 I'd add a screenshot of the console, but all it says is "Invalid URL" then a link and then "No Host Supplied"

Do you get more of a stack trace with the error? I'm not sure which handler could be causing this. If you have a sample URL, I could also check that out. Is the URL perhaps malformed in some way?

Not sure about the Stack trace, but the URL it gives be back does look malformed, as it looks like so: ' https://:/img/05x5b02.png' and the website i'm assuming it's trying to pull it from is this: https://www.csh.bz/line/05xp.html

as far as what is printed in the console window, it looks like this RMD post

Sorry, my fault, i completely missed that you weren't sure which handler was causing it, i believe it to be the newspaper handler, as that's the last thing i see from it before it tell me the URL is invalid, it seems to get to "Requesting page" right before it stalls. attached image is why i believe it to be the newspaper handler.

Thanks for the information. I'm looking into this.

Hey again,

I finally got around the problem half an hour or so ago, after staring at the settings in the WebUI long enough i finally realized i could try having a look around in the SQLite database, and so i did. After looking around for a bit I found the post in question, and deleted all (obvious) records related to it, and since it was no longer upvoted or saved, the downloader skipped right past it and continued on as normal.

Don't know if i should close the issue or not, as the handler could come across another link like the one i encountered, and throw a fit again, so I'll leave it up to you.

Hey, thanks for the feedback. This is still on my list to investigate, I just haven't had much time yet. I'll leave it open for now as a reminder.
