side-retracting ALG have wrong default orientation

Open strongest2hu opened this issue 8 years ago • 2 comments

The default orientation of these new side-folding gear is to have the gear bay itself aligned to forward (just like the other ALG), which means the wheels themselves are 90 degrees off. It only takes a single key-press to get them in the correct orientation, of course, but it would be nice if you would rotate the default so the wheels are aligned to forward. I assume that most people are placing these with the extended strut on the outboard side of the gear bay (so the craft takes a wide stance), which would then be the sensible default orientation.

Sorry, I do not think I can fix this -- when I tried changing the base model orientation it changes how KSP does the symmetry and results in a part that no longer works when placed in symmetry ( gears face in different directions regardless of how you rotate them )

I'll take another look to see if there is anything I can do in the config as my last attempts were done by changing the base model orientation prior to export. However I don't think that surface attach nodes allow for changing of the rotation around the node axis (only setting the direction of that axis).

Recent posts on the forums state that there -might- be some ability to fix this using the part-config level mirror symmetry axis setting.
