You could use reflections to obtain the AuthMe.injector instance and then invoke injector.getSingleton(SettingsManager) to interact with our settings manager.

it looks like the user is logged-in twice, by autologin and then session

You need to update ProtocolLib on your servers
The plan is to drop pre 1.16 support for the final 5.6.0 release, beta3 will sill support 1.8-1.15
