Failing to map keyboard to an artsey.io pad failing + release timeout greyed out

I'm trying to use the program to create an https://github.com/artseyio/artsey pad in the corner of my keyboard. Mapping m+/ to B types an M or / depending on which key I press slightly ahead of the other followed by a B. I wanted to try messing with release timeout, but it's greyed out in every mapping that I create

Same here. I've got a sayo 2x4 macro pad I'd like to use but also gave the keyboard a try and nothing. It recognized my input device but output macros stayed greyed out. Tried my STAR61 keyboard too but same. Trackball didn't recognize any inputs. I want to have the ARTSEY inputs to type with left hand while doing CAD with right on mouse and this seemed a great solution.
