Same for me. F-Droid version 4.1.4 on Android 9.0. Also whitelisted the app in the battery saver.
According to [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/androidapps/comments/6zqy6n/why_dont_any_3rd_party_twitter_apps_show_new/) it seems that it's not possible to receive push notifications with a third party Twitter client, is that true?
