Maven repository https://maven.universablockchain.com/ is down
The Maven repository used by this project (https://maven.universablockchain.com/) appears to be down or permanently offline.
Would it be possible to republish the library to a standard repository (e.g. Maven Central)?
This would help keep things predictable, especially for CI builds. This is currently breaking our CI.
same problem as #2
The repository was working well until last night. Our CI is also broken since then, and I can confirm that the repository is down at the time of writing and I agree with everything @shahzar said.
@simonsample as a short term fix, @shahzar has copied the code into our repository (android and iOS source sets only). We could also properly fork it and host it elsewhere, but we are hoping for a proper fix (i.e. not use maven.universalblockchain) so that we can remove this copied code.
I really can't understand what was wrong with our archiva but well I restarted it. We use it daily anyway
works now - close issue?
The intention of this issue was also to explore possibilities of moving to a more common/standard maven repository.
Moving to a standard repository helps us keep things more reliable, as it kind of guarantees less downtime and quick resolution in case of outages, as the whole community would be affected by it.
Maven Central, for example, is free for open-source projects (including MIT licensed ones) and ensures long-term availability.
I’d be happy to help with the migration setup if needed, or at least help figure out the steps to do it.
Yes I know. The problem is, I am USSR-born, so getting banned from any of western services, free or not, is just matter of time for me and others with "red passport" :) It really does not bother me (I pulled my tail out of it well before the war), but I don't want people who use my FOSS stuff to depend or suffer from such crazy politics. Unfortunately I see no true open source repository, free of these crazy influences. Wish we have public git and maven (I use self-hosted gitea lately) in some location less prone to crazy politicians games. This automatically means it can't be legal entity of EU, Canada, GB, USA, Australia, China, etc. Even profit free organizations are not immune. So, no maven central. Any ideas?
Probably is someone with USA passport and no Russian relatives could make a mirror on a maven for me; such a person has little chance of be under sanctions - as for now.
