Eclim problems slows down Emacs considerably.

Right now with eclim problems and a large code-base with many "problems", there is around a 20 second delay in opening any file under the project because eclim refreshes the problems.

There doesn't seem to be any way of disabling the auto refresh (or the entire problems feature entirely for that matter), or this wouldn't be a problem.
