Maybe a simple switcher to turn batteryfu on/off with a timer (for instance, do not turn off data in the next hour). Some streaming applications buffer data so network activity...

Or maybe open/close the indicator panel if you find it for interesting.

I use the version from extensions.gnome.org and I have the same problem. Looking forward for a fix. :-) Thanks!
