chromecast does not work on android 5.0

I made an upgrade from 0.79 to 0.83 on my android 5.0 device and the casting icon for chromecast does not appear. On another device with android 6.01, v.0.83 is working fine with chromecast.

After downgrading to 0.79 on the android 5.0 device, chromecast is working good again.

Since it's impossible to test chromecast in emulator, I think we would need logcat logs from your Android 5.0 device.

Also, if you click on "MPD" icon at the top bar, there is no chrome cast option in the popup, right?

  1. I did not get a logcat so far and I'm not quite sure, if it is within my capabilities. That is how far I come: Android-logcat-01

  2. There is neither an "MPD" icon at the top bar nor a chromecast icon on my android 5.0 device. Topbar_android_5 0

Just to make sure, if I understand you correctly, I took a photo of my android 6.01 device:

where radiodroid-2 v.0.83 is working as expected.

You don't have USB debugging enabled, see https://android.gadgethacks.com/how-to/android-basics-enable-developer-options-usb-debugging-0161948/

Debugging is enabled: Debugging PTP is selected: Camera - PTP The message "Allow USB debugging?" does not appear.

Instead there is still "waiting for device"

Btw, these pictures seem to be very big, but I don't know how to make them smaller here.

Hmm, try plug and unplug phone, enable and disabling "USB-Debugging", sometimes that popup is bugged.

I tried v.0.83 with a third device with android 4.4.2. There also no chromecast icon appears.

In the changelog I found this:

[0.81] - 2020-03-03 Changed Library: cast 18.1.0

[0.80] - 2020-02-10 Changed Library: Cast 18.0.0

Maybe there is a hint to this issue to be found, since v.0.79 is working good on my android 5.0 device. Edit: v.079 on my android 4.4.2 device is working fine.
