Restore Sets

Open chirayudesai opened this issue 4 years ago • 2 comments

Consider the following scenario:

  • You plug in a USB drive to take a backup
  • Backup successful.
  • You plug it in again after a day / few days / a week.
  • Seedvault starts backing up automatically, all good so far
  • You check the drive, it shows multiple backups.

I had an app that I uninstalled recently, but it was present in the original backup on this drive. I was hoping that auto restore would bring the data back, but it didn't. If you regularly backup, this can get out of hand quickly, taking up a lot of space, and the only way to get it back would be manual deletion. While restoring, you get multiple options, listing basically all the backups. It could differentiate them better (same device backups shown under some form of collapsible list / as a sub list, etc)

What I'd like

  • [ ] Ability to tell it to only keep x number or y days of backups
  • [ ] Allow restoring specific app from a specific backup - depends on #85
  • [ ] Improved restore UI - better distinction of sets

This can be confusing with #100 but it's different because this is an explicit feature we want, whereas the USB issue described in the description is a bug as noted by #102

This would be proper support for having multiple backups / restore sets on all locations, whereas #100 would work even with now with the bug in #102, and still be useful for this as well.
