How do you completely uninstall this app and its extra software?
As per title, there were a lot of extra software things not part of the main app that were installed and don't show on App Cleaner or anywhere as extensions? How to remove completely? Thanks.
Hello Adrenalyser, thanks for making contact.
There is an Uninstall function in "Utilities". It moves MacYTDL, all components and all logs to the Bin/Trash. There is nothing left behind. You will need to provide Admin credentials.
Note: MacYTDL related files are removed for all users on a Mac. That includes log files related to downloads by other users.
Note: This does not uninstall components installed by other tools such as Homebrew.
The Help file has info on all the components on pp.67-70.
Cheers.
Thank you. It doesn't appear to have done that though?
yt-dlp, ffprobe, ffmpeg went then there was a read only error on the app itself (didn't install, was running from DMG to test first) and things like DialogToolkitMacYTDL, Send-URL-To-MacYTDL are still there?
The DMG is read-only. So, there is a permission error when you try to delete any of its content. MacYTDL can be flakey when run from within a DMG. It's usually best to run from /Applications/. Nonetheless, I often run it from /Desktop/ or ~/[home]/Applications/.
Thank you for letting me know about your experience. I've not seen that before. I'll try to stop MacYTDL crashing when there is an error during the Uninstall.
The Help file has advice on where components are stored. The best option now is to manually delete them.
Thanks.
Thanks, all good now. For some reason it would not work correctly with MP3s (installed properly to test again) so I'll just use online convertors. iTubeGo is the same as well so think it may be due to adverts or something youtube have changed?
There are a lot of features available in yt-dlp which might give you the audio you need. Have a browse of the yt-dlp readme. You can add additional yt-dlp commands to MacYTDL with the "Use custom settings" setting.
YouTube have changed how they deliver videos. The yt-dlp developers have released a quick fix and are working on a long term fix. In MacYTDL, it's best to update to at least the 20251022 release of yt-dlp.
Cheers.
