Rebranding: New name
Current name doesn't seams to work great, this issue is a starting point do discuss alternatives.
Current Name : Seven23
Current name is related to the fact when I started this project back in 2010, I had a 723€ salary for my monthly spending. Biggest concern with the name is that people do not remember it properly. First name was 723e, then became seven23. A short cut has been created as S23 but sound too close to N26.
Current domain name: seven23.io, and s23.io
A New Name
Seaking for ideas, any suggestion is welcome. Hopefully, suggestion should be positive and help users on daily basis to be rigourus about their tracking.
Ideas:
- Makeitcount.io
- Nomadbudget
- FrankBudget (playing with the idea of an honnest budget, impersonnalised as a character, Frank).
- RedBudget
- LeanBudget
ownBudget ?? like Owncloud, thinking on privacy Nomadbudget is good and Makeitcount.io too but i think that is good idea that the name have the word "budget" thinking on the google searchs.

Hello ! I just discovered this project and would be interested into participating. Thinking also about new features that we could discuss later when I get familiar with the project ;)
About the name, I think that, based on what the app does right now, it should be more like Makeitcount.
Using the word Budget would lead to false interpretation from users as you don't manage a budget but more tracking expenses.
The application is more an expenses tracker for now and check where you spend your money.
Budgeting is more like planning what you are going to expense the next month(s) in each categories based on supposed revenues. Also that would allow to put some money on the side, planning to go on vacations in 9 months for example and keeping 100eur every month in holidays category to be allowed to go there without any problems.
By the way, as the app already has categories, that would be a nice new feature :)
Based on that, here are some suggestions:
- ExpenseTracker (or YetAnotherExpenseTracker, YAET :)
- KnowYourMoney (KnowYourExpense)
- KeepControl
- and I like
MakeItCount
Thanks @radtriste and thanks @nykroy for your inputs, feedbacks are always welcome and help a lot to improve.
We have just added the recurrent transactions, and will soon be able to provide monthly subscription which might be easier for people who do not want to go with the self hosting option. When both features are live, there is plans for some nice redesign with animation and sexy UI to be more attractive and user friendly. For now this has mostly been a side project to fit my needs, but I believe some people might have similar one and this could help 😊.
Regarding the goals/planning budget feature, we had a first implementation but it was not really clear and well integrated so has been put on hold. This is for sure very useful and should be analysed seriously.
About the name, arf that one is hard 😅. I like your suggestions from your both and kind of agree on the falthy definition of budget in our case. I was thinking after the redesign to run some study and market analysis but we are still far from then. I also like the idea to have a .com domain but not everyone agree on that 😅.
