How can I make use of time?

Open rk-kontur opened this issue 6 months ago • 2 comments

Hi there,

thanks again for a GREAT plugin!!

How can I actually make use of hours and minutes for my events?

I have this

```ob-timeline
tags=exploit
dateFormat=HH DD. MMM YYYY |
```

But it does not do anything. I would be grateful to learn

  1. What tag / html code I need to provide
  2. Which format will work

Apart from that I wondered about the display itself: Wouldn't it make sense to have the date of the event inside the event field - ideally as first line, directly on the same height position as the marker for the event on the timeline? I mean: directly on top of the link / title.

Is there a way to do this via custom CSS snippet in case there is no interest to add this option?

THANKS again!

All the best!

Heck, it seems that time information apart from hours is not picked up, or am I doing something wrong?

This would effectively make the plugin useless to my storytelling as I have only 10 days but 70 scenes spread out across it. If I cannot align them to the timeline of the plot, they will be all over the place...

Is there a way to sort events by something?

Please help us make the timeline more precise by including minutes in it, as my timeline needs to be more accurate as I work with days. So within the 24-hour timeline, I also need the minutes.

Minutes is a highly requested feature but I have not added that in yet. Not sure if I am going to unless I come up with a better way of storing / comparing dates.

WRT display: are you able to create a mock up of how you'd like it to look? I can certainly come up with something, (maybe a toggle?) if it's not too difficult. I'm currently working on a large-scale refactor for the vertical timeline as it was getting a bit hard to maintain, so no promises on when I'd get to this one.

WRT sorting: Unfortunately no, there is no way to sort events currently. I only render them in chronological order, ASC or DESC (although I think last I checked DESC was broken/behaving oddly)

I'm going to close this issue as the original point of this issue was the addition of minutes to the timeline dates which is already visible in #77

I'll break out the display question to a new issue, copy over your original question and my response and tag you in it.

Created #128
