"ControlR.exe has stopped working" upon opening Excel; BERT version 2.4.4

No idea why but recently noticed that I get an error "ControlR.exe has stopped working" when I open Excel.

I can open BERT console but the R console is no longer there.

I use this in preferences if relevant (which worked fine a few weeks ago):

"R": { "home": "C:\R\R-3.5.3" },

Any help please? Thanks.
