Can't get renaming to work

Program Version: Beta 0.10.4

Problem: I can't seem to get the tabs to be renamed. This is the first I'm using it so I'm not sure if I'm missing something.

desktop settings file

Hello @kbooty, thank you for reporting this.

If I understood correctly you would want your assigned names to appear instead of "Desktop 1", "Desktop 2" and so on in your first screenshot.
Unfortunately this is not a supported feature at the moment: desktop names only appear in the popups (if you have activated them) and in the tooltip of the tray icon when hovering it with the mouse.

I can see however how this could be a useful feature: I will check to see if it could be implemented in some way, although as this project depends on an external library for such features I cannot guarantee anything.

Best regards

@kbooty little update

A cursory search on Google seems to reveal that in the current version of Windows 10 it's impossible to rename desktops:

  • here it says the feature is not yet supported (this project is actually quoted as a workaround)
  • here it is suggested to use Windows 10's Feedback App to tell Microsoft this is a wanted feature and it will possibly be implemented in the future

Marking the issue "depends on external source" and "waiting for updates" as the feature must be implemented by Windows in the first place and then by Ciantic's library.
