Looks like the version on snapcraft.io just hasn't been updated yet. https://snapcraft.io/overseerr still has the old version number so snap thinks its up to date.
Can confirm it's an old version on Snapcraft. Could this be updated?
Any updates on this?
push
Considering the last version is 100 days shy of 2 years old, it'd be great to see an update... How long is this app planned to stay as "beta"?
Can the snap pls be updated? 😀 Missing this a lot, thank you.
Any update?
Please see https://github.com/sct/overseerr/discussions/4087#discussioncomment-12907171 .
Snap will not (soon) be updated.
FYI I switched to jellyseerr for this reason, they support bare metal installs.

thanks for the update. kinda crapish. i rly dont want to invest in another tool from scratch but it seems easier than installing a docker env just for overseerr
They just signed this apps death certificate... I was already looking to move away from it with it not having been updated in 2 years. BM in my opinion, I've already switched back to Ombi.
While I understand the benefits of containerization and standardization through Docker, enforcing Docker as the sole deployment method does pose challenges for certain setups—particularly those running on single-server instances with constrained resources. On lightweight or minimal VPS environments, the additional overhead introduced by Docker can be significant, especially when there’s limited disk space and no need for hypervisor-like isolation.
Snap, despite its quirks, offered a relatively low-footprint and self-contained way to install Overseerr, and it integrated well with systems where maintaining a minimal resource footprint is critical. Removing Snap support removes that option for users who don't need—or can’t feasibly run—containerized services.
I’d advocate for reconsidering Snap support, or at least allowing some form of native or package-based installation (e.g., a .deb or .rpm option) to remain available alongside Docker for those of us in these constrained environments. It would help ensure Overseerr remains accessible to a broader range of self-hosters and hobbyists who may not have the resources or desire to run Docker in every scenario.
Thanks for your hard work on this project—just hoping we can find a solution that balances maintainability with accessibility for the community.
Can we get confirmation the snap package will be abandonned ? That would help us decide to switch to another tool or not. Thanks for your work so far.
#4133 fixes Snap
1 month and your PR still hasn't been merged... I just don't think the devs care. Back to Ombi I go...
Jellyseerr is much more actively maintained, so I'd recommend people switch to that. But unfortunately they disabled snap packages as well.
