Plex.TV Metadata API Failed to retrieve watchlist items

Description

Running 1.33.2 in a docker container. I keep getting this error: Severity ERROR Label Plex.TV Metadata API Message Failed tor etrieve watchlist items Additional data { "errorMessage": "Request failed with status code 401" }

This is on DEBUG level but it's filling my log. I am assuming it's because the quota limit has been hit by the user but why is this an error? This is functioning the way it should right?

Hi, I encounter the same issue for several weeks now. I don't use Quotas, still I can't fetch Plex watchlist in Overseerr (1.33.2) :

No other event related to this in the logs afaik. @zelik888 what verison of Plex are you running ?

I'm using the latest plex beta for plex pass. I don't think it's an error per se, it's because of quotas. But I don't see why it should display as an error in debug log.

Same serious error like you: 2023-11-28T04:39:07.770Z [error][Plex.TV Metadata API]: Failed to retrieve watchlist items {"errorMessage":"Request failed with status code 401"}.

No Plex watchlists are scanned.

Using the latest Plex docker with Plex pass and latest Overseerr.

Software was working great then all of sudden started receiving this error. Now feature does not work.

Any suggestions?

The problem fixed itself. Might have been an issue on Plex's side.

same thing here. It was working back in thanksgiving, no idea when it stopped. I presume it was an update to plex (1.40.0.7998?) since I should have been running Overseerr v1.33.2 since its July release. Based on BouchardMath's comment I tried to update again. Plex is now on 1.40.1.8227 as of today (5hrs ago - March 14) release and I still cant sync watchlist.

Edit: Context: I am the owner of the server and have rebooted and logged out/in with plex multiple times on both the plex server and overseerr and the issue persists. simply logging out and in does not resolve.

So it happened once again, but I was able to fix it right away.

For some context, my users never directly use overseer to request content, they simply add their desired movies/shows to their Plex watchlist.

It seems that every once in a while they need to log back into overseer using their Plex account which fixes the issue.

@BouchardMath confirmed ! I turned off in each overseer's users "Auto request movies" and "Auto request series" but mine (admin), and Watchlist is working again.

After that, I reactivated my wife's Overseerr "Auto requests", and I asked her to login to overseerr : i've been able to retrieve her watchlist as well.

Same issue I've had users specifically using their watchlist to add movies, which suddendly stopped working Turning off everybody else's auto requests (except mine) fixed the issue And having them log in to Overseerr allowed it to pick up their Plex watchlists again after enabling auto requests

I have been seeing this issue for the same period of time this ticket has been open. It is interesting as it seems to apply to users that are not admin that do not log into overseer. I have admin and never login, and the auto-requesting works. Users that do not login fail as outlined above. Specifically, the accounts are associated with google-associated accounts (if that helps).
