any progress for real GUI ?
Hey any updates on that GUI we talked about? I've been using your software for ages and it's a real shame it doesn't get more attention. The interface doesn't need to be fancy, just something user friendly. It's worth considering, because younger folks aren't going to want to mess around with consoles and complicated commands."
cheers
I haven't thought much about it. Maybe if there was more interest in the project I could be compelled to do something. Even a simple UI would be a ton of work.
I can't help you with this I'm not a programmer, have you tried gemini or chatgpt?
I have tried them. I used GPT to make a GUI to test the new grid segmentation. It worked for the most part but I had to go back and fix a lot of errors. If I wanted something to be reliable and maintainable, I think I would need to write it the old fashioned way. And I have a lot of experience in this area so it is probably a better use of my time.
My thinking right now is this would be better as a plugin for an image viewer program, most likely nomacs as I am maintaining it right now.
I think you should try again. Gemini 2.5 is a really good tool, but not just from the chat. It needs API access to see your entire repo, something like an IDE + plugin. If you can't afford it, tell me how much you need and I'll pay. I think everyone who uses your software would agree. A plugin might be nice, but first a proper GUI is needed.
The UI I am imagining is probably just a file manager with some extra buttons added. If I don't have to write the file manager part, then it all becomes a lot easier. So I would probably look to modify something like krusader or add a plugin to it.
