Good job! 🍺
Hi @scriptify !
First of all: I feel you and I've been pondering about this problem for a while now and yes, it is indeed (t)here - easily noticing it when I was commuting by public transport or in some public places: 'people' getting easily 'distracted' by their phone (notifications), desperately trying to mimic a 'real' connection/conversation with some online person or just 'random scrolling' online, trying to stay 'engaged' or in 'contact', while getting carried to work/school/etc. Much social.
People tend to forget that they can just raise their eyes out of the 'black mirror' for a bit, look around and find some nearby stranger/person with whom you can have a real social/human interaction with, a real conversation (spoiler alert!) - without the 'luxury' of time to adjust/perfect your replies like in 'text' mode, some tend to favour / do that as it allows them to present themselves in a desirable manner.
The world is so 'connected', yet people seem/are so 'disconnected', or the human social interaction seems to dim 😞
Second of all: Thanks for starting & sharing this, got me motivated again to get involved in this 'initiative' and i'll try to find the time to do that soon. Good job!
Cheers 🍻
Hello @dimorphic! First of all thank you for your motivating answer (exactly things like those may keep such projects alive) and sorry for my late reply. Yea, the heavy usage of so called 'social' networks mostly have the opposite effect, and saying that those networks just want to make the world 'more connected' is very, very hypocritical. I mean, I like the idea behind social networks, because they make it possible to stay in touch with people physically far away from us. But I don't like how they developed over time, the original aim of social networks just got lost (and I don't elaborate further on this now, even though there would be much more to say).
The more people talk with other people, the opener they get and the better the world/society we live in could become. Being digitally connected has just nothing to do with real human interaction.
I am happy that I have inspired other people with NEAR, this is really nice to see. I would love to collaborate!
Again, thank you for your motivating answer!
Have a nice day :sun_behind_small_cloud:
Love this concept. I am trying to solve it on my own and starting with dating instead of networking. Would you be open to chatting on the phone about collaborating?

I'd love to!
