Followed the steps, have the proper coding, steam fails to launch short cut
Hi all.
Below is my coding for ICE
Config:
[Storage] ROMs Directory= C:\Users\Sinister\ROMs\Roms\SNES
Emulator: [RetroArch_SNES]
Location of RetroArch.exe
location=E:\SteamLibrary\Emulator\RetroArch\retroarch.exe
Location of SNES CORE and some launch options
command=%l -fullscreen -L cores\bsnes_balanced_libretro.dll %r
Consoles:
[Super Nintendo] nickname=SNES emulator=RetroArch_SNES extensions=sfc,srm
They appear in Steam on big picture but will not launch due to "failed Shortcut"
Thanks, very new to programming and have followed the steps. Could not figure out what is wrong after scouring the forum issues posted.
Thanks
I have the same setup for my SNES emulation, and yours appears to match. Mine works fine. Have you tried loading an SNES from within RetroArch to make sure it's working?... Though if it's giving you the "failed shortcut" error, that's probably not the problem. The only questionable thing I'm seeing is your "ROMs Directory" in the Storage section of the config.txt. You might try cutting "\SNES" off of the file path. I have my path set to my ROMs folder where I have specific subfolders within for several emulators. Have you checked the shortcut path in Steam? Right click an SNES game shortcut in your Steam library and look at the properties. I'm wondering if there might be ".../SNES/SNES/..." in the shortcut's path.
Ultimusrex,
Thanks for your reply. I ended up switiching my emulator to Snes9x, tested my roms and they work. For some reasone Retroarch failed on me, wouldnt even recognize the roms.
I made the configurations in my console, emulators and config.txt files. This is what it looks like now.
Config.txt
[Storage] ROMs Directory= C:\Users\Sinister\Desktop\ROMs
Emulators.txt
[Snes9x] location=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Emulator Folder\SNESx command=%l %r
[Super Nintendo] nickname=SNES emulator=Snes9x
Ice recognizes everything, including the Roms. When I load up steam, the roms are there, however, still get shortcut failed but now I get a windows popup to select the rom, when I do on my comp it loads rom. so the issue is getting the short cut to launch the rom so i can play it on steamlink.
Attached it a screenshot of the properties for one of the roms to try and figure out where the error is and if I have to manually fix each shortcut.
Any help will be great, Im close to fixing this.
Fixed.
For some reason steam Target and start in were incorrect, had to modifyh manually, works fine. same for P64.
Cheers.
SinisterCAN, glad to hear you got it working. You might also check the emulator "location" in the emulators.txt file. Mine points directly to the exe program. But if it's working, maybe it's able to extrapolate the correct emulator from the directory location on it's own.
Happy retro gaming!
