3 little issues

Open Rekke opened this issue 7 years ago • 6 comments

Thanks for the hints regarding the following problems:

1.) In energy-mode the led-lights do not reach the end of the stripes. Is any possibility to adjust the gain? I have 240 leds. The volume is already at the highest level.

2.) If i stop the musik-track, after a few seconds, visualization output starts on its own. (the strip lights up und does not stop).

3.) Sometimes (e.g. if i change to scroll-mode) the FPS-Speed goes down from 60 to ~30. What can I do?

Thank you for helping!!

I don't know about #1 because mine doesnt do that at 300 lights but #2 is actually noise. I've eliminated almost all of it but I had to make sure everything connected to my computer was on a grounded connection, except for speakers which I had to ground lift. #3 all depends on what board you are running it on. Disable GUI for higher fps. If on a computer thats not a pi, try closing tasks and allocating more cpu to python.

#1 maybe happens because of the current. I think if you use so many LEDs you will need an additional power connection to your led strip somewhere in the middle or at the end of the strip!

@charlieali: No 2) I don't think it is noise, because i use internal input. If i switch of the media player, the stripe starts to light progressively more and more. No 3) My Laptop has Intel Core i5 with 4 GB RAM. Is that to weak?

@blassbasti: No 1) My Power Adapter has 5V at 20 A. It is strong enough. But I see in visualisation output, that the lines don't reach the end. But volume of player is maximum. So i ask, is there an option to adjust the gain?

@Rekke How should we understand 2)? Does the strip just light up after a few seconds of no music? What pattern does it show? Is it pretty random or is it some kind of effect, and if it is - what is the strength of it?

As for 3): Do the FPS go up again after some time? Or do they stay low?
A computer with your specs should handle this visualization with no real problems, but maybe you should try using the program without GUI.

And another question: what excat program do you use? Do you still use the one provided by @scottlawsonbc ? if so, I would suggest using a newer program based on this one that I use too. If you need help with setting it up you can contact me: [email protected]

I hope I can somehow help you with these problems 😄

Have you revisited this at all in order to see if some of the recent updates have solved any of your issues?
