Issue downloading `tlnet/archive/texlive-scripts.tar.xz` from various repositories
Crappy uni network might have something to do with it, but:
- By default, this script selected an US mirror, even though I am in Australia
- Downloads from that mirror failed (
http://us.mirrors.cicku.me/ctan/systems/texlive/tlnet/) - Downloads only succeed for one out of three AU mirrors (aarnet, of the three listed here)
In particular, downloads failed when attempting to retrieve the file ctan/systems/texlive/tlnet/archive/texlive-scripts.tar.xz which upon manual inspection is not present in those repositories. Is that particular archive not part of the core ctan distribution and therefore not always mirrored?
Thanks for this report. I'm not sure what's going on. You can specify the repository manually with the --repository option, but I'm not sure why the automatic repository detection does a poor job of finding the best mirror.
I haven't heard anything about that specific file. I wonder if it's a temporary issue with the mirrors. Hopefully if others experience a similar issue they'll post here and we can try to figure out what's going on and how to solve it.
I think the mirror detection issue was temporary (possibly due to some network issues). I'm able to complete the install by manually specifying the mirror. To help direct search traffic in case others know about the "missing" file, I renamed the issue.
I only use the Ubuntu machine on occasion but might try to switch mirrors periodically to check.
