Custom thread highlighting not showing correct colors

Highlighting for seen threads and unread post threads is much darker than the highlighting on the settings page. A side-by-side example:

It appears that the correct colors show up for a split second when the page loads, then the new colors show up. Turning off thread highlighting in the forum options didn't change anything though.
