Removing an active host does not remove it from /etc/hosts

Title sais it all.. I removed a host from the preferences which was active. But it wasn't removed from my /etc/hosts/

Could you attach your /etc/hosts file and mention which host it wasn't removing so that I can test it?

and for testing I added www.google.nl, activated it and them removed it.
