Different email title for state changes

Open alenkacz opened this issue 10 years ago • 3 comments

I would prefer to have the information about a status change right in the title of the email. Let me give you an example - some check went from OK -> WARN then from OK -> ERROR and then from ERROR -> OK.

For that I receive three mails with the same title and I have to skim through the text to the transition table to know, whether these three mails mean that there is still a problem or if it is already fixed - I would like to know from the title if that problem is still happening or if I can just delete that mail and stop thinking about it.

What do you think? If it make sense to you, I can implement it with no problem :-)

I remember this very discussion a few years ago. The reason behind using the same subject was for conversations in email clients. If we used a different subject based on state changes they'd end up grouping together incorrectly.

That said, not everyone has the same requirements. Perhaps is might be better to allow a level of customisation for the subject of the email? It would only need a template in the configuration to make that happen.

Can we looking into adding customization of subject header in next release?

I think one of the best things we could add would be templating for each checker. We could probably do it in some generic way...
