a one-line explanation of what tablecloth is about

Open daslu opened this issue 4 years ago • 4 comments

Probably this is a matter of taste, but I think it could be helpful to have a very short description that says what tablecloth is.

This could be useful in the beginning of the README and in the beginning of the docs.

Currently, the repo description that appears in the github organization is: Dplyr-like dataset manipulation library build on the top of tech.ml.dataset. I think that is a good option. On the other hand, maybe not everybody knows what Dplyr is, so maybe without the Dplyr-like prefix it can be even more useful.

Agree 100%. I will change it leaving issue open if any other idea come up.

Also, first of the readme paragraph should be revisited.

Perhaps something like:

Tablecloth is a fast, ergonomic data table library for Clojure

?

I feel like tablecloth's advantage is speed and ergonomics. Faster than maps, easier than raw tech.dataset.

"data frame" could be used instead of "data table", but since "table" already is in the title, it might make sense to stick with that.
