diskarbitrationd causes pymol to hang when accessing files

Pymol version 2.4.1 will become unresponsive when attempting to open or write files under Mac OS Big Sur 11.1 and will peg the diskarbitrationd process at 100% indefinitely until the process is killed.

Is this with the DMG from https://pymol.org/#download ? Does it happen with any load or save location or only with specific folders?

Thanks for replying. Yes, I did download from pymol.org. And no, the hanging does not only occur with specific files or folders - and they are not located on external disks. The launching/running of diskarbitrationd I suspect is due to my use of TimeMachine for backups, but pymol is the only app that hangs when diskarbitrationd is running. Sometimes it recovers in anywhere from 2-20min, sometimes I grow impatient and restart the machine. I am happy to send logs if you tell me which ones might be useful to you.
