tried to "remove" this

Open ghost opened this issue 10 years ago • 9 comments

Hi,

I looked in user font folder no fonts in there. Tried to uninstall using the app but it only worked for one account on the computer and some fonts still seem to be in Lucida, like desktop fonts. Wondering how I got myself into this mess.

Thanks for any help.

Check any files in these folders: /System/Library/Fonts (shouldn't be anything there) /Library/Fonts /Users/<user>/Library/Fonts

Remove any System-LucidaGrande-related fonts and re-login/reboot.

Thank you,

In /System/Library/Fonts I have LucidaGrande.ttc /Library/Fonts No LucidaGrande /Users//Library/Fonts Empty

Is the ttc extension a “System” font extension?

.ttc is a font collection. Do NOT remove LucidaGrande.ttc!

There should be a file called LucidaGrande_modsysfontyos.ttc somewhere (normally in /Library/Fonts).

I really want to give this 'Patch' a try since I hate Helvetica as a screen font, however there is no real instruction about how to uninstall / reverse this patch if unsuccessful or not satisfying.

Could somebody please add a quick instruction on the main page about how to remove / which files exactly to remove?

"Remove any System-LucidaGrande-related fonts and re-login/reboot." is a bit too vage for my opinion..

When you're doing the patch, you end up with a few System-*.ttf files. Just remove these files from /Library/Fonts and reboot.

That's it? Thanks ;) That was easier than I thought. Will give it a try now.

@mgrn0 Sorry to resurrect such an old issue, but I was curious to see how everything went? Did the install go okay? Any visual oddities? I've been considering hooking this up on my machine and would appreciate the insight.

Would please explain what this means: "When you're doing the patch, you end up with a few System-.ttf files. Just remove these files from /Library/Fonts and reboot." I found these files which seem to meet that description in the UserName/Library/Fonts folder which seem to meet that description: Batang.ttf, MS Gothic.ttf, MS Mincho.ttf, etc. and temporarily removed them and restarted but it didn't make any difference as far as I can discern. And what do they have to do with LucidaGrande? And what do you mean by a "System-.ttf file"?

@Thannah If you'd like to remove the patch, you should only remove /Library/Fonts/LucidaGrande_modsysfontelc.ttc. Don't touch any other .ttf or .ttc files under the /Library/Fonts directory.
