Product descriptions; packaging unit counts

Open oldskeptic opened this issue 4 years ago • 0 comments

Many products come in an aggregate package that has multiple units of the product inside that is also sold individually (eg: six-pack, flat of 24 soda cans, dozen light bulbs, etc...). Product databases (and gs1) consider the aggregate package a different product than the contained product due to different price and packaging size.

Currently the size / SizeSpecification property / classes give limited support for packaging and stuffing everything in a string (eg: 24 X Bottle 450 ml) requires parsing to get to the count.

Referencing a similar ticket at gs1 webvoc (gs1/WebVoc#7) where it would be useful to be able to use both AI37 COUNT and AI02 CONTENT to reference how many items of what there are in the package.

Use Cases:

  • I'm looking to buy a 4-pack of wifi light bulbs
  • I'm trying to find a carton of 6 bottles of Guinness Extra Stout Bottles
