Swap file issues with The Pagemaster
Game: The Pagemaster (Pagemaster, The (1994)) for Windows 3.x, from eXoWin3x.
This is an odd one. Using the same conf (with minor changes vis-a-vis paths for zip-handling) I've tested this with a couple of standalone DosBox versions and DosBox-Pure. This is actually the first issue I've had like this with DBP, as often it solves issues the standalones have.
So, here's the problem...
Launching The Pagemaster in DosBox ECE/-X: The game launches and runs perfectly. Launching The Pagemaster in DosBox-Pure: I'm told that the swap file size is too small.
What I've tried...
- Checking that expanded memory was available;
- Various memsize values;
- Changing the amount of memory in the core's options;
- Trying different systems (386/486);
- Running from a folder;
- Step-by-step running autoexec commands myself (ensuring CDs are properly mounted);
- Setting up a temporary swap file via 386 Expanded (no difference, and the changes don't appear to stick);
- Setting up a permanent swap file via 386 Expanded (I find I'm unable to).
The results continue to be the same, it works perfectly in -X/ECE but not in DBP. I'm really at a loss. I like to fix problems myself, when I can but... I really have no idea what might be causing this.
I've uploaded a picture of the error and my dosbox.conf (which I renamed to dosbox.log in order to get it to upload).
