PC and Android versions use different save names

Open jeff93063 opened this issue 2 years ago • 2 comments

On PC I get save files called "gamename.pure.zip" and on android I get "gamename.save.zip". This makes it tough to sync my devices and continue my game. Can these be made the same?

Hi there, if you check the release notes of release 0.9.0 and the accompanied issue #87 there's an explanation about why and how save game naming was changed from GAME.save.zip to GAME.pure.zip. If you've been using this core since before 0.9.0 you might have saves with the old name. If your game is loaded from a .ZIP file that contains more than just a single directory in the root you can safely rename .save.zip to .pure.zip.

If new saves for games you're starting the first time get the .save.zip suffix the only reason I can think of is that you somehow still use an old version of the core from before 0.9.0 on your Android device. Can you check that?

Looks like you're right, I'm using Retroarch from the play store, and the version of Dosbox Pure it installs says 0.20. Hopefully that gets updated at some point and fixes my issue. Thanks for responding, and thanks for your hard work on this core!

Edit: i just realized I can update it myself from your GitHub release. I installed 0.9.7 and it is working fine with the .pure.zip saves. Thanks!
