Compatibility list

You meantion games that are "compatible" with DosBox Pure and are automatically detected. Which games are compatible? Is there a list? How can I see, if a game is detected? If a game is detected, does that mean that keyboard controls are mapped to RetroPad controls (like A, B, Start, Select and so on) automatically? Sorry for creating a Github issue for that but there's zero info or documentation on this.

If you go into Controls > Port 1 Controls you'll see if it was detected if it says "Detected Automatic Key Mapping: <GAME NAME>". You can switch the core option Options > Input Options > Advanced > Automatic Game Pad Mappings to "Enable with notification on game detection" and it will show a pop up notification on startup if the game was detected.

I described the source of the gamepad mappings and how it detects games here and here. I think the tool "DOS Game Installer" that is connected to the "keyb2joy.pad" project contains a big TXT or CSV file with all games that have been mapped to a controller.
