It's worth mentioning that on the other hand `R.isEmpty(undefined)` returns true. (In that, it seems a little inconsistent to accept one but not the other)

Personally, I vote option #3. You can always have a different version if you must by using a named catalog, but that forces the choice to be explicit and still...
