Challenge 23 :

BRANCH : Branch is a very important part of github contribution, by default there is one master branch.

Git Branching Naming Convention

  • Branch names should contain a group words, such as bug or WIP (Work in progress).
  • Branch names should include unique IDs.
  • For easier readability, use a hyphen or a slash as a separator.
  • Avoid giving it a long, descriptive name.

PR :

  • Before making a pull request, review the modifications.
  • PR should have a meaningful description
  • Try to include screenshots of the things you added in action.

ISSUES :

  • Create only meaningful issues
  • Always start with a good-first-issue tagged issue.
  • Avoid long descriptive names

These are all the points that I could note down to briefly summarise the do's & don'ts during github contribution. Thank you!!

Tips:

  1. Make sure the repository has the "hacktoberfest" label before contributing.
  2. Avoid submitting low-quality pull requests/spammy PRs.
  3. Follow GitHub and Hacktoberfest guidelines.
  4. All pull/merge requests must be submitted from October 1-30, to be eligible for Hacktoberfest goodies.

Challenge 30

Finally, this fantastic, exciting and definitely not so easy "Challenge" comes to an end. I have completed all the challenges to the fullest of my knowledge. I have thoroughly enjoyed this learning journey. I would like to extend my gratitude to @Scaler and every member of the community for giving us keen learners this fantastic opportunity. Thank you Scaler!!! "Hacktoberfest" kicks-off from tomorrow and I can't wait to make my first pull/merge request applying all that I have learned in this challenge. The "Challenge" ends but this learning journey never does, Thank you Scaler for showing us the way.
