Max and OSX Catalina?

Open dbcorbin opened this issue 4 years ago • 4 comments

Hello,

I went looking for a FLAC ripper for CDs today and found MAX Max 0.9.2b4. But Catalina OSX 10.15.7 is unhappy.

"“Max.app” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software."

Is there a simple fix?

thanks dc

The binary should be signed so I'm not sure why it won't open. I will investigate.

In the meantime, https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202491 has information on how to override the security check and launch Max.

Works for me with Catalina 10.15.7.

  1. Move it to /Applications as usual.
  2. Right-click the Max.app and select "Open".
  3. In the dialog box confirm that you really want to open it.

In the future, Max should start without problems.

I get the error message:

"Max" needs to be updated The developer of this app needs to update it to work with this version of macOS. Contact the developer for more information.

There is no way to open the app via dialog box or via system settings/security.

I'm using macOS Catalina 10.15.7

UPDATE I tried it now by installing it via homebrew and suddenly I can open it up via system settings.

The instructions from https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202491 worked for me to launch the app and work around the error In the "Allow apps and identified developers" section there was a message about Max and via that I was able to choose to launch the app on macOS Big Sur 11.6
