SFTP connecting too early

The SFTP dialogue for adding a connection to a dedicated server tries to automatically connect, as soon as the host is entered. When coupled with no cancel button and and a really long (potentially infinite afaict) wait to get any error back is a horrible user-experience, for setting up a connection to a server.
